OF ANIMALS DIE EVERY YEAR TO TEST LIPSTICKS, SHAMPOOS,
AND OVEN-CLEANERS...
People and animals,
we are inter-related. A long-standing and complex relationship exists between
us, it is often one of the mutual support. Yet, animals are abused every
day in a variety of ways. Most cosmetics and household products are tested
by painful experiments on animals. These include skin irritation tests
in which a substance is
applied directly
onto the skin, which has been made raw, of animals held stationary for
weeks on end. The draize Eye Test involves injection of products into rabbits'
eyes, causing ewelling, and frequently, blindness and burning away of the
eyes.
Some products
contain safe, natural ingredients, and are not tested on animals. Principals
of the following firms have signed statements that they do not test their
products on animals, nor do they send their products out for animal testing.
Generaly, the
products are available in health food shops and elsewhere; they are cosmetic,
personal care and household products.
